The Philippine Government announced yesterday the 10-day national mourning for the late former President Corazon Aquino who passed away yesterday morning at 3:18 am in Makati Medical Center. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from working visit to New York announced the following:
“Today, the Philippines lost a national treasure. Cory Aquino helped lead a revolution that restored democracy and the rule of law to our nation at a time of great peril.
Our nation will mourn her passing.
History was thrust upon her when her noble husband was cut down in the prime of ...

Its an “old school” trend for public officials in position to campaign early and take advantage of their position. Did anybody said, “lumang tugtugin“? If my memory serves me right, my tatay will told me, “kung ano ang tugtog, siya ring sayaw“. I guess, the phrase my dad told me fits in this case.
What monkey see, monkey do? If the highest position in the country (President) is already “silently” campaigning as Congresswoman in her hometown (Pampanga), what do you think her allies and cabinet members will do? Haven’t you notice ...

I’m sure many pinoys understand the word “trapo”, FYI for new voters, the word trapo was derived from the word traditional politician. I can’t remember when did I learned this word, I might overheard my tatay saying the word.
