What Monkey See, Monkey Do

22 June 2009 No Comment

monkeyIts an “old school” trend for public officials in position to campaign early and take advantage of their position. Did anybody said, “lumang tugtugin“? If my memory serves me right, my tatay will told me, “kung ano ang tugtog, siya ring sayaw“. I guess, the phrase my dad told me fits in this case.

What monkey see, monkey do? If the highest position in the country (President) is already “silently” campaigning as Congresswoman in her hometown (Pampanga), what do you think her allies and cabinet members will do? Haven’t you notice the TV commercials?

Por delicadeza, don’t they think what the impression they will get from voters like me? Or what matters most for them is the vote they could get for early exposure? If you’re asking me, its simple as take advantage of what they have now… how much is per TV commercial? Reportedly, a series of TV commercial will cost millions. And where did the money came from if they are still in position?

The problem roots from the implementation of election law. Again, its lumang tugtugin. Who will implement the law if you are appointed official? It gives me the impression that if nobody file charges, they won’t stop. Ironically speaking, I want to believe that someone is above the law.

Constituent Assemby was passed by House of Representatives, parang moro-moro lang without asking their constituents what they want. We are betrayed by our Congressman who earned my vote last election and also signed Con-Ass, its not impossible that they will do it again.

I still want a democratic country for my kids and the next generations.
