Lanao Del Sur’s, Masui Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr. filed libel case against Marie Dhel “Bambee” de la Paz, 18 for the defamatory and malicious article which she had written in her blog. Bambee illustrates in her article “The World has Gone Crazy” the incident happened in Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City between his 56 years old father, his 14 years old brother and the company of Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr., Mayor Pangandaman with their bodyguards. The article was written a day after the incident.
Paca-Ambung Macabando, provincial prosecutor of Lanao del Sur, issued his nine-page resolution dated March 12 elevating the libel charges against De la Paz before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) after she failed to submit her counter-affidavit before the deadline two days earlier. Macabando claimed that the blog is “obviously libelous for they are malicious imputations of criminal acts tending to dishonor, discredit and contempt Mayor Pangandaman Jr.” Macabando set a P10,000 bail bond for Bambee de la Paz.
Mayor Pangandaman’s reputation is at stake, same with DAR Secretary Pangandaman. But Dela Paz family cries for justice. I’m not familiar with COMELEC requirements but I’m sure that a good moral character is always included. Otherwise who will vote for you?
