There were hearsay that Evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva will run in 2010 Presidential Election. Yesterday was the 30th Anniversary of Jesus Is Lord Movement at Luneta Park in Manila, as expected he had announcement regarding his campaign for presidency. He said that Bangon Pilipinas Party was convincing him to run again in 2010 Philippine Election. Bangon Pilipinas is also the same party he founded when he campaign for presidency in 2004.

“Before I entertain that idea, show [me] first that Bangon has nationwide, reasonable machinery and pray to God [for] people to have the consensus to fight for genuine change.”
As of now Eddie Villanueva has no personal ambition at the moment to campaign again for president in 2010. However, if the possibility arises, Villanueva said he may entertain the challenge.
Villanueva said a presidential wannabe who wants to get the support of both JIL and Bangon Pilipinas in the 2010 elections should have the three Cs: competence, character and courage. In short, a moral and credible leader.

What does Bro. Eddie mean when he utilizes the term “righteousness”?
Judging from my readings of his rhetoric, I think what he means by this is “righteousness” as a state of being of a person. Henceforth, he appeals to the Filipino people his moral achievements. This I assume is his battlecry. No one among the candidates would measure up to him in terms of the “three Cs: competence, character and courage”. For him, the solution to our national predicament is a “righteous (that is, morally) leader.”
While this is a noteworthy rhetoric, it is also naive.
Righteousness in the Old Testament does not merely qualify as a moral category for an individual but also for a nation.
A moral category for an individual according to many points of view can be attained throughmany things but for a Christian, it begins with justification by faith.
But how do you establish a moral nation? Where do you begin? How are you going to re-establish a “collective action” for the filipino people when the affairs of the government are for the most part focused on private institutions. This government no longer invests in
social capitals but in business capitals. When a golf course pushes around real property owned by poor people, the government only sees the revenues it gets from the the golf courses rather than preserve the dignity of the land of the poor people. By making the filipino poor choose between golf-course-money and dignity, it displaces a materialistic filipino. Why can’t the government honor the poor with a land? Why can’t he create laws that would help the person make collectible goods for the nation? What does the government do instead? It puts more faith in the collectible goods produced by a private golf club. No wonder there is a level of distrust in the nation.
And here you are: a candidate who’s mantra is “I’m morally better than the rest of the candidates.” The locus of discussion is political policy that is connected to “a government that has righteous political aspiration”s rather than a “righteous candidate with political aspirations.”
